White jeans are a power move. Like bright lipstick, they're something only the brave are willing to wear in public. Why? Mostly, I think, because of the extra care involved in keeping them nice. When you wear bright lipstick you have to make sure it isn't running, wearing off, or getting on your teeth. When you wear white jeans, you're suddenly microscopically aware of how dirty the world is. I mean, who knew sitting on a deck chair could ruin your outfit? But while white jeans aren't the most practical item of clothing in my closet, they're one of my favorite pieces for bringing on a confident mood. I just can't not feel like the embodiment of a perfectly-scooped ice cream cone when I'm wearing them. If that sentence makes no sense to you, try it this way: white jeans are the essence of summertime. When I wear them I'm channeling my inner Tampa resident. I feel cool, collected, tailored, and statement-making. The pink blouse and pearls in this outfit take it Charleston while the heels are running some 808's beneath it all. This outfit is, for me, the height of summer loving. Loud, bright, awesome.
