Breaking Fashion: The Backward Cardigan

You know what's huge right now? Styles from the 1970's. You know what I don't like? Styles from the 1970's. You know what I do like? Inventive ways to wear common articles of clothing. And it just so happened that when I dove into a trend I had wondered about for quite some time, I ended up pulling a bit of a 1970's vibe anyway. Take that, arrogance. What feat of derring-do worked me into a 70's look?

The backward cardigan
(please mind the gap)

All of these items were either thrifted or bought at a sufficiently distant period that I don't remember where I first purchased them. But isn't that rather 70's itself? The addition of a silk striped scarf and the high, tight neckline of the sweater brings in a retro feel. Over all, I think I should try out for a live-action version of Scooby Doo if they ever try to make it. You know, because I totally look like that one girl, sans purple.

What strange style ideas are you prepared to try out?

  3. It really is a lovely color on you! I like the way the blue in your sweater goes with your glasses, too :-)

    1. Thank you, Jessica! It's so funny how these glasses pick up random colors since they're black and silver.

  4. I do really like this look...especially the scarf. Have you found a way to keep the cardigan from gaping, because I think that the knowledge of having gaping buttons at my back would drive me bonkers? :)

    1. Haha! Garment tape (or double-sided tape) should be great. I was just short on time and didn't bother to make a solution.
