My Favorite Fall Lip-Products

In collision (cooperation?) with Carmel’s post on her top favorite lipsticks for fall, I decided to round up a group of my favorite fall lipsticks and stains: the old, the new, the in-between. You’ll see a couple lipsticks but mainly lip-stains. I love the ease of a stain and the fact that I don’t have to keep reapplying throughout the day. Plus, when I fall in love with one thing, I tend to go a little overboard and want it in all the colors.

My Favorite Lip-Colors For Fall 2015:

L’oreal Colorstay in “Parisian Passion:” Last autumn, Carmel debuted this lip-stain on her blog and thus set off a series of events in which Jenny Freitag and I (and probably a few others) also went out to purchase it. It’s plummier than a dark red, less purple than a wine, and just the right shade for bringing autumn into your daily grind.
Rimmel Provacalips "Heart-breaker:" I gifted this stain/gloss combo to my sister for her birthday in August. I hadn’t had a chance to try it myself till the other night, but I had heard wonderful things of it from Sarah. When I did try the stain-gloss duo I was deliriously excited to find that the stuff stays on forever. Through a shower, through a sleepover, through an enormous mug of the world’s best instant hot-chocolate. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for more shades of this stain! (UPDATE: I now own it in the classically pink "I'll Call You" as well.)
Stila All-Day Lip Stain in "Beso": I got this stain in one of my more recent Birchbox’s and love it not only for its lasting-power but for the unabashed shade of red in which it comes. I’ve seen it in hot pink as well, and I know it probably comes in other shades. When I run out (which won’t be for a while) I will probably order a full tube.
Mary Kay Lipstick in "Caramel Toffee": This is a nice compromise between nude and brown and goes on well in a rush, which I value in a lipstick. I got it for free from someone who was going out of the Mary Kay trade, so I'm not entirely certainly which Mary Kay "line" it is from, but I'm happy I chose it when I did. I keep this one and the following in my purse for necessary touch-ups throughout the day. If I feel like using a liner under this shade, I choose L'oreal Colour Riche in "Au Naturale."
Yves St. Laurent in "Volupte Sheer Candy:" This was a gift from my best friend’s mother and, to quote my friend, “It feels like angel kisses." This shade isn’t particularly autumnal…in fact it is barely a shade at all. It’s a translucent, shimmering pink which I apply obsessively because it feels so good on my lips. *kiss kiss*

If you’re a fan of dressing up your lips, what are your autumn color crushes? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Love this lineup, Rachel! I'm glad to see my love of the Revlon moisture stains extending to others as well! :)

I want to get myself a YSL lipstick, but I'm so indecisive I'm not sure what color or finish I would go for. And, you know, they're so expensive you sort of have to get it right the first time...XP

    1. Exactly! So I have never bought a lipstick from anyone more pricey than drugstore brands. But this YSL was a gift and I love it so much that I'm willing to risk another...
