Eiffel Tower to Tokyo

Sometimes life does lovely things and lets you win giveaways. A month or so back I won the Paris-themed giveaway at Kelsie-Johanna Photography and with it, a delightful little gold bar-necklace fashioned into the shape of the skyline in The City of Lights. I knew from the moment I saw the necklace on the giveaway infographic that I would love it forever, and so I do! To showcase the jewelry and the Paris print from Rifle Paper Co., I chose to create a date-night look inspired by international travel. Specifically, Toyko and Paris. C'est bon un idee!

Also, now would be a good time to let those of you who don't follow me on Instagram or Facebook know that I chopped off my long hair and went for a bobbish style. I like it. In moments I do miss my longer hair but thank heavens, my grows a sixty MPH so I'll be all right.

The fun bit of putting together an outfit for a blog post is that I force myself to try different combinations. This tulle-edged skirt had always been paired with an Ann Klein sleeveless top for summer, but as we transition into fall, I wanted something longer-sleeved and decided to throw myself a travel-party and pair its Parisienne-flair with a kimono-style blouse. Lipstick in "Cinnamon Toast" and flat-ironed hair echo both French and Asian trends, and the heels are just...fun. The result of these various components is unusual, cosmopolitan, and wanderlust-inducing. I knew I would wear the Paris skyline-necklace again (and again) but I will also be taking this combination out of the closet next time I need a little metro in my day. Ciao, bellas! And let me know in the comments below what unexpected trails you've beaten into your closet.

  1. Oh, what a lovely outfit! The wrap top and the Parisian dress really work fabulously together.

I don't know that I have done anything with mixing cultures. Though I tend to wear fine jewelry and camo, or lace with olive drab. I'm inspired to see what I can put together.

  4. That's such a cute hairstyle on you!
I don't know if I've done any real "mixing" of that sort, but while we're on the subject of fashion, I did just find a beautiful woolen blazer (in perfect condition) at a thrift store for, like, $10. I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. :)
